Rizal Park is one of most known historical urban park in the Philippines. Rizal Park also known as Luneta Park, named after the Philippines national hero, Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal, a Filipino novelist who was shot by firing squad at this historical site on December 30, 1896 on charges of supporting local rebellion against the Spanish colonizers.

Coaches Sarah Geronimo, Lea Salonga, and Apl.de.ap turned for him except for Coach Bamboo, but he said "was a great performance". Dy chose Geronimo to coach him, as he believed that she would be able to help him have a place in the music industry.

Dy performed "Angel brought me here" for his winning piece.Dy won against Bonaobra, receiving 52.94% of the text votes, not including the votes from the first round. He was announced the winner at the end of the competition, winning 2 million pesos, a house and lot from Camella Homes, and a recording and managing contract with MCA Music, among other prizes.
